BioShock goes gold

Exclusive 360 FPS with us in August, demo on Marketplace now

NEWS: 13 August 2007 19:07 GMT by Chris Ford

2K has announced that its FPS BioShock will be out causing mayhem and destruction in August, with the title hitting the States on August 21 and Europe August 24, with a demo of the game on Xbox LIVE Marketplace now.

BioShock claims to be offering something special, and completely original to gamers, letting players do things never before possible in the genre.

The unique selling point of BioShock is that pretty much everything in the game can be used as a weapon. What is more, players can biologically modify their bodies with plasmids, hack devices and systems, upgrade weapons and craft new ammo variants, and experiment with different battle techniques. Oooh, sounds groovy!

And it’s not only themselves that gamers will be able to use against their enemies. Hack away to your hearts content to reprogram enemy security bots into personal bodyguards, modify vending machines to change prices, and transform machine gun security turrets into powerless pieces of metal.

All the action takes place in an incredible art deco world hidden deep under the ocean, vividly illustrated with realistic water effects and truly next generation graphics.
