Demo for PSP Silent Hill leaked online

Denials have been coming in thick and fast

NEWS: 21 August 2007 13:59 GMT by Chris Ford

Bad news for Konami and Climax as a demo of the upcoming Silent Hill Origins for the PSP has been leaked online.

It’s an embarrassing turn of events as the game was due to be showcased at the Games Convention in Leipzig in just a couple of days.

However, denials have already been made as to the origin of the leak, with Climax’s CEO and founder, Karl Jeffery telling GamesIndustry.biz, "All I can say is that code did not leak from Climax – 100 per cent guaranteed."

"The code that is out there is fingerprinted and was supplied solely to Konami for marketing purposes. At Climax we have strong and proven security procedures that protect all of our code, assets and builds. We have developed over 100 titles in 20 years in business and have never had a leak or theft from inside the company."

So, the blame has been laid at the publisher’s door for the demo that was uploaded on August 19 and has had 1200 downloads so far, but as yet Konami has made no comment.
