Video Games Live at the London Games Festival

Philharmonia Orchestra to play to a backdrop of video games

NEWS: 21 August 2007 15:53 GMT by Chris Ford

Video Games Live is set to open this year’s London Games Festival, featuring the biggest scores from the most iconic games being performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra.

This unusual event will take place at the Royal Festival Hall on 22nd October 2007, at 7.30pm, hosted and conducted by co-creators Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall.

But the organisers want to stress that Video Games Live is not just a concert, but a musical, visual and interactive celebration of gaming, both classic and present, with the likes of Halo, Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, Warcraft, Myst, and Sonic represented.

The idea is that gaming fans will be able to enjoy the music from the Philharmonia Orchestra and a choir alongside exclusive video footage and music arrangements, synchronized lighting, solo performers, electronic percussion, live action and unique interactive segments to create an explosive one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.

There’ll also be game demos, a cosplay contest with exclusive prizes for the best outfit, game competitions and meet-and-greets with Tommy Tallarico, Jack Wall and other leading industry names.
