The PlayStation Eye was first mooted ages ago, and when we were given a summer release date, oh boy were we happy. However, as with many dates, the launch slipped.

Now, however, we’ve been given evidence that the PS3 peripheral is going to hit the shelves this autumn.

Amazon, the old faithful font of much of what goes on, is listing a bundle that includes the camera with the game Eye of Judgment for $59.99/£30, and with a release date of October 23.

In line with the new console, the Eye carries many improvements over the EyeToy for the PS2. For a start the EYE can capture up to 120 frames per second and it also has a four-element microphone which can detect the approximate location where sound is coming from.
