Company recalls arcade machine for breaking player’s arms

Arm wrestling machine found to be a little over-enthusiastic

NEWS: 23 August 2007 13:03 GMT by Chris Ford

Atlus, the manufacturer of an arm wrestling arcade machine, have recalled all its games after three players broke their arms while fighting the plastic arm.

All 150 Arm Spirit machines have been removed from arcades around Japan, in a “precautionary” move as the spokeswoman for the company put it. That sounds like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted to us!

Ayano Sakiyama, the spokeswoman, went on to say, "The machine isn't that strong, much less so than a muscular man. Even women should be able to beat it."

"We think that maybe some players get overexcited and twist their arms in an unnatural way.''
