NEWS: 3 September 2007 6:00 GMT by Stuart Miles

Gears of War fans will be able to download the Hidden Fronts Map Pack for free from today.

With nearly 500,000 downloads to date, the “Gears of War” Hidden Fronts Map Pack has become the No. 1 piece of premium downloadable content on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, however all that is about to change as Microsoft make it free to encourage those not yet involved to do so.

The game has sold more than 4 million copies worldwide.

In the Hidden Fronts Map Pack, players can clash for control of four new areas, including Bullet Marsh, Garden, Process, and Subway.

The Hidden Fronts Map Pack is available worldwide.

The free download comes just months ahead of the PC release of the game.
