Reports that all copies of Super Paper Mario are to be recalled are slightly exaggerated. Nintendo has published information about how to get round the problem - a bug in a specific situation:

"In the UK English, German and Spanish versions of Super Paper Mario, on the Wii console, a problem can occur in a very specific situation at the start of Chapter 2-2, which causes the game to freeze."

"A full explanation of this and how to avoid it can be found on www.nintendo-europe.com. This error does not damage the Wii or the game itself, and does not prevent gameplay if the player follows our recommendation."

"We are very sorry for this error and any inconvenience caused to your gameplay experience, we are working as fast as we can to correct this."

For anyone not happy with the workaround offered, Nintendo has offered to replace discs - full details will be published on the site soon.
