There’s bad news for Microsoft as the highly anticipated Halo 3 has already been put on the internet for downloading on various file sharing sites.

The game has been uploaded to the sites within the past day despite the title not being released until next week.

The 6.14 Gb file will be able to be played on modified 360s, something which Microsoft has been trying to combat in other ways. A few weeks back it announced that anybody using Xbox Live with a modded console would be banned for life.

There has also been some speculation as to the source of the leak, of course, with many fingers pointing towards the Argos affair reported yesterday. The UK store started selling the game at a small number of shops, although they quickly put a stop to it once the mistake was brought to its attention.
