Microsoft has, at last, confirmed the coming of the new Xbox 360 Arcade bundle which is being rolled out across North America.

With the price of $279.99, the Arcade bundle includes a wireless controller, HDMI cable, 256 MB of memory and, given its name, 5 Xbox Live Arcade titles.

The bundle is aimed at taking some of the shine off the Wii as it is being marketed as a family option, and the games included reflect that - Uno, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Boom Boom Rocket, Luxor 2, and Feeding Frenzy.

Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing at Microsoft, said, "As families gather together this holiday, it's the perfect time to launch a new low-priced, high-value Xbox 360 that plays games, TV shows and music for everyone to enjoy,"

"In addition to offering an incredible all-in-one package for families to get right into the fun, the Xbox 360 Arcade system features the industry-leading Family Settings, which allow parents to control what their kids are watching and playing — and we know how important that control is to families around the world."

There hasn’t been word as yet whether the bundle will be offered in Europe.
