The global launch of Atari's flagship game, Alone in the Dark, has been pushed back to June.

The games developer has told Eurogamer that it is delaying the release of the game by one month.

Online reports had suggested that it would arrive in May and some specialist mags have already tested early versions.

The Xbox 360, PC, Wii and PS2 versions will now be available on 20 June in Europe and 24 June in the US.

But a release date has yet to be published for the PS3 version.

Atari says that the delay is necessary to allow it to add "additional polish" to the game and also iron out any bugs.
