id Software hiring new talent to complete it

NEWS: 7 May 2008 21:30 GMT by Verity Burns

Doom fans listen up. id Software has announced that it has begun production on Doom 4, and is currently in the process of expanding its internal team of developers to work on the sequel.

In a statement posted on the id Software website CEO Todd Hollenshead said: "Doom is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth".

"It's critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles."

There are no less than 13 positions advertised on the site, including designers, animators and programmers at varying levels. It isn't stated if these are all for Doom or otherwise. Oh, and if you were thinking about applying, you need to able to work in the US. Obviously.

No more is said on the game, but the job listings do indicate that applicable platforms for the positions are PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, so read into that what you will.

The Doom franchise is one of the most recognisable in gaming history, and was once named "the #1 game of all time" by GameSpy. id are no doubt hoping that Doom 4 will do as well as its predecessors, which have topped sales charts throughout the world.
