It's been a little while since we've heard any more news snippets about the second coming of the Gizmondo handheld gaming platform, but an interview with Carl Freer, the man behind Gizmondo and its re-launch, has just been published on a fan site.
It seems the re-launch is still on for this year with high hopes for the device. Stating that there's "still incredible value in the Gizmondo" Freer says that "we feel its only the beginning of where we can go with the product".
Freer says: "We can tell you that the launch with include more than a relaunch of the same model. There will be many new facets to the launch. We have new products, suites of new games, enhancements to both the hardware and software components. Right now, we are on target for a 4th quarter 2008 launch but will be making a series of announcements shortly especially to the developer community".
Other revelations include the launch of a new Gizmondo website that will offer a shop, SDK downloads and game creation options while in hardware news it seems the new devices will have a new graphics chip and run WIN CE V6.
Interestingly for those that bought the ill-fated gadget first time round, Freer says that all current Gizmondos will be supported with a software update due and back catalogue games will get re-released.
