Pac-Man to come to the big screen?

Seriously?

NEWS: 23 May 2008 16:30 GMT by Verity Burns

Crystal Sky Pictures has inked a $200 million theatrical slate financing deal with Don Starr's Grosvenor Park.

The deal covers five films including an adaptation of Konami’s Castlevania. A co-production with Universal's Rogue Pictures, the film has been written by Paul Anderson (Resident Evil) and directed by Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard).

Other titles being made with the cash include a sequel to John Woo’s Hard Boiled and, rather unbelievably, a cinema debut for Pac-Man.

Yes, everyone's favourite yellow ball is somehow going to be heading to the big screen. How this will work we're still not quite sure.

Money from the deal will help Crystal Sky further expand its development capabilities.

"This financing is helping us in our expansion plans to greenlight films more quickly", said president and CEO Steven Paul. "We're now one of the few companies to have a big budget with which to develop our slate."

Crystal Sky previously produced Bratz, based on the toy franchise, with Lionsgate, and Ghost Rider with Columbia Pictures. We're not completely sold that Pac-Man will be such a success.
