100 WiiWare titles waiting for release

Lots to come from the Nintendo Channel

NEWS: 3 June 2008 16:05 GMT by Verity Burns

A senior executive at Nintendo has announced that there are 100 WiiWare titles in development for download through the company's new download service, the Nintendo Channel.

Tom Prata said that the new games will be made available every Monday, and there will be no limit on the number of games released at a time.

While the new game titles are being kept under wraps at the moment, the WiiWare market is currently dominated by the likes of Pokémon, and Dr Mario which were released on launch of the Channel.

Prata did say, however, that the line-up would include titles that everyone would enjoy, and not just those from big publishers.

He said WiiWare developers range from large companies like Square Enix, to established independent developers such as High Voltage and Frontier to small indie developers like XGen.

I guess we'll have to play the waiting game to see what that means in terms of games we'll see released.
