Sony to introduce video programme on PSN

Will give gamers a behind-the-scenes peek... for a price

NEWS: 4 June 2008 17:34 GMT by Verity Burns

Sony has announced the launch of an interactive, monthly programme that will "cover the world inside PlayStation".

Named Qore, the programme will only be available for PS3 users and will be downloadable from the PlayStation Store.

Delivered in high definition, the programme will feature exclusive multimedia news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scene looks at the newest PlayStation games.

Subscribers will have special access to game demos, betas, add-ons and other downloadable and game-related content.

Sony has said that users will be able to watch the programme their way, with interactive features allowing them to change things such as camera angles.

Qore will be available on the first Thursday of every month, in coordination with the weekly PlayStation Store update. It is going to cost you though. Expect to pay $2.99 for the first episode (although this is noted as an "introductory price") or $24.99 for an annual subscription.

Just a little incentive for you considering the annual option - you get 13 episodes instead of 12, and for a limited-time, you will also get the popular PlayStation Network game, Calling All Cars for free.

Sony says Qore is the first in a series of planned original content for the PlayStation community.

"Original content, community-related services and innovative products are a major focus for the PlayStation Network this year and we are pleased to introduce Qore exclusively for our customers," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of Marketing and PlayStation Network, SCEA.

Premiering on June 5th, the first episode includes exclusive and never-before released content on upcoming PlayStation titles such as SOCOM: US. Navy SEALs, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Soul Caliber 4 and Secret Agent Clank, as well as the latest Blu-ray Disc trailers.

We're not too sure how keen gamers will be to pay for this programme, but that remains to be seen.
