Rock Band 2 rumours surface

Will go up against Guitar Hero

NEWS: 9 June 2008 14:17 GMT by Stuart Miles

We’ve already heard Activisision’s plans for Guitar Hero, how rumours are suggesting that Rock Band will get an update before Christmas.

Reports coming through to Gamesdog.co.uk suggest MTV and Harmonix are hard at work on a sequel to the music game with first sightings from online focus groups testing things such as price and features as well as box art choices, according to gaming site Joystiq.

According to joystick survey groups were asked:

"Rock Band 2 lets you and your friends play as a virtual 4-person band, in person or online, to rock out to some of the biggest rock anthems from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. Rock Band 2 will be a full featured sequel, similar to full featured sequels you see released by other big video game franchises, such as Need for Speed, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, or Halo. In the music/rhythm genre, it is similar to the feature jumps made from Guitar Hero I to Guitar Hero II or Guitar Hero II to Guitar Hero III."

Rock Band was released on Xbox 360 and PS3 in the US last November, with a PS3 version following in December and Wii version out this month.

Europe has so far only been treated to the Xbox 360 edition, with PS3 and other versions to follow later in the year.
