Pong hits the big screen

NEWS: 10 June 2008 9:17 GMT by Amy-Mae Elliott

Retro-gaming fans can rejoice that a new movie is planned to celebrate the work of Nolan Bushnell, the founder of Atari.

A new film to be made by Paramount about the "godfather" of the video game industry will star Hollywood golden boy Leonardo DiCaprio, it has been revealed.

Bushnell was an engineering student, puzzle-lover and game enthusiast who went from fixing broken pinball machines to launching Atari Corp. in the early '70s.

Atari's first product was Pong that led to hundreds of millions of dollars worth of video game sales.

Over the next three decades, Bushnell started many other tech ventures and also created Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theaters.
