Super Smash Bros. Brawl crashes the chart top spot

Knocks LEGO Indiana Jones of his block

NEWS: 2 July 2008 12:21 GMT by Verity Burns

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has hit the top spot of the UK all formats chart this week, pushing last week's leader LEGO Indiana Jones down to number three.

In fact, the game racked up so many sales it is the now the third-largest UK Wii launch behind Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii.

Talking of Wii Fit, it jumped hugely in the charts this week, from 27 to four. The reason? There was actually some stock for people to buy. Always handy.

New entries into the chart did pretty well, none more than Battlefield: Bad Company which debuted at number two, while Big Beach Sports and Beijing Olympics fared well too at five and nine respectively

Mario Kart has boosted its way back into the top ten from 11 to seven, while GTA IV still hangs in there at number 10.

Big movers - in the wrong direction - included Alone in the Dark falling from three to 17, GRID dropping from eight to 18, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII stumbling from 10 to 23, and Civilization Revolution heading downwards from 13 to 24.

Kung Fu Panda only managed to scramble to number 40 this week on its debut, while Ninja Gaiden II and UEFA Euro 2008 dropped out completely.
