NEWS: 17 July 2008 17:06 GMT by Verity Burns

Ubisoft has announced a sequel for its 2007 action title Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, set to be released around Christmas time this year.

Entitled Naruto: The Broken Bond, the title will featue an online multiplayer mode that gives players the chance to compete in online tournaments.

The Naruto games are based on the famous anime series, and The Broken Bond is the second game to come from Ubisoft's licensing agreement with the TV TOKOYO Corporation.

Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft said: “Featuring vibrant and imaginatively detailed settings, Naruto: The Broken Bond will take players on an epic journey through an accurately recreated Naruto world.”

“We’re excited to continue in the Naruto: Rise of a Ninja tradition, boasting the only video game in the franchise that features an online multiplayer mode that lets players compete against their friends in tournaments over the Xbox LIVE, online entertainment network, and also gives players the opportunity to relive genuine moments of the anime, while exploring the open universe of Naruto.”
