Bourne series game rights back with Ludlum Entertainment

Another one to get the chop from Activision Blizzard

NEWS: 31 July 2008 12:48 GMT by Verity Burns

Ludlum Entertainment has reacquired the rights from Vivendi Games to make video games based on the works of Robert Ludlum, including the Bourne and Covert One series.

Vivendi Games first got hold of the license in 2005, but have since only released one game - The Bourne Conspiracy - in June this year.

Since Vivendi Games has been incorporated into Activision Blizzard, the publisher has dropped a number of titles from its portfolio, including the Ghostbusters game and 50 Cent sequel. Activision Blizzard puts this down to a concentration on streamlining and profitability.

However, Jeffrey Weiner, CEO of Ludlum Entertainment doesn't seem to have any bad feeling over the decision. He said: "Our colleagues at Vivendi Games did a tremendous job of capturing the spirit and allure of Robert Ludlum's writing with The Bourne Conspiracy and the gaming community's strong response is clear indication that future Ludlum games will deliver both popularity and profitability for years to come."

And it sounds like Ludlum Entertainment isn't hanging up its gaming shoes just yet.

Weiner added: "We look forward to working with innovative partners in the gaming community and new investors to further extend the reach and appeal of Robert Ludlum's stories and to help write the next chapter for this powerful and timeless entertainment franchise."
