Warner Music Group Corporation has said that video game makers will have to pay a higher fee to license songs for music-based games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Edgar Bronfman, Warner Music chief executive, compared today's video game companies such as Harmonix and Activision Blizzard to events such as the launch of MTV 25 years ago and Apple's iPod release in 2003.

"The amount being paid to the music industry, even though their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control, is far too small."
