Korg turns Nintendo DS into synthesiser

Make your own 80s sounding electro music

NEWS: 3 September 2008 14:29 GMT by Verity Burns

A new "game" for the DS sees it make the change from a games console into a music-making tool, as one of the world-famous Korg synthesisers makes its way onto Nintendo's handheld.

Korg DS-10 provides a fully functional, complete synthesiser on the DS that will allow musicians to improvise and record their own music, alone or with fellow electro heads.

You'll be able to produce analogue synthesiser sounds and music samples, using the touch scrreen functionality to use things such as the Kork Kaoss PadPAD.

With the stylus or your finger, you can open the mixer's channels, lay down a kicker drumbeat, patch synthesiser sounds and add effects as you build up your electro tune.

With the ability to save up to 18 different sessions, you can continue to develop and build your electro tunes over time and even connect to fellow musicians' consoles through Wi-Fi to work on a project together.

Korg DS-10 (named after the original synthesiser, Korg MS-10, if you're interested) will be available from 10th October 2008, but there's been no prices have been released as yet.
