Xbox Live - 24 hours planned downtime on Monday 29th September

But it's not for the new Xbox experience

NEWS: 24 September 2008 14:00 GMT by Verity Burns

Players on Xbox Live will have to find something else to do on Monday 29th September, as the service will be going offline for routine maintenance.

The service could remain offline for up to 24 hours, which means, Xbox Live and the My Xbox section of Xbox.com will be unavailable, and although you will be able to access the forums, they will be read only and you won't be able to post.

Xbox Live's Major Nelson has assured users that the remainder of Xbox.com should be available with limited interruptions.

Now before you start getting excited that this could be the new Xbox dashboard update - it isn't. In fact it is maintenance in preparation for this for when it becomes available later in the autumn.

Keep an eye on Major Nelson's blog - he'll be posting (and Twittering) when everything is back up and running.
