Mega Man 9 makes it to WiiWare

Along with two other new games

NEWS: 26 September 2008 17:08 GMT by Amber Maitland

WiiWare has been updated this week, and there's three new games to choose from.

First up is the much-anticipated Mega Man 9. A blast from the past for many gamers, this retro classic debuted in 1987 and is back with the ninth installment over two decades since its release. Now that's longevity for you.

With the graphics, music and gameplay done in an 8-bit style to keep this classic just as you remember it, you'll come face-to-face with eight new Robot Masters designed by evil genius Dr. Wily. Fight against the likes of Tornado Man, Magma Man, and Splash Woman to clear the name of Mega Man's creator, Dr. Light, who has been framed with their creation.

A trip down memory lane with Mega Man 9 will set you back 1000 Wii Points.

Next up this week is Helix, a rhythm game where you use your upper body rather than your feet to perform fast-paced moves and score points. There's 26 different dance tracks and three difficulty levels which should certainly keep you grooving for some time. You can start boogying today in exchange for 1000 Wii Points.

And also 1000 Wii Points is the final game of the update, Strong Bad Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free - the second of five monthly episodes.

Strong Bad, the star of the game, is the self-proclaimed "coolest person ever" and is played alongside the rest of the cast from the popular Homestar Runner web cartoons.

This episode sees Strong Bad wrongly imprisoned, and once released, on a mission to unite the local warring factions under the Strong Badian flag. Episode 2 sees new achievements, collectibles, costumes and Teen Girl Squad comics.

All games are available now so log on to WiiWare to start download them.
