Backlash against GTA drug-dealing game begins

Didn't take long...

NEWS: 29 September 2008 12:01 GMT by Verity Burns

Just as we predicted when we reported news of the drug-dealing mini-game in GTA Chinatown Wars, the announcement from Rockstar has received widespread criticism from both drugs support groups and the media.

Good old British tabloid, The Sun, has covered the story under the headline "Fury Over Drug Deal Vid Game", with a quote from Darren Gold from Drugsline:

He said: "Anything using drug-dealing as entertainment is sending out the wrong message. Glamorisation doesn’t help our work trying to educate kids of the dangers of substance misuse."

Now, call us cynical, but Rockstar isn't exactly a stranger to controversy, and has always seemed to do pretty well off the back of it.

Clever, Rockstar. Very clever.
